We need to make sure that you have accessed the essential works in your field

Vital References- Swop Shop

For this exercise

1. Click the comment button and list the Focus word for your research and brainstorm the search words

for your project

Example (see below)

Assessment

(assessment for learning, assessment, feedback, peer assessment, self assessment, testing, progression, formative assessment , diagnostic assessment, summative assessment)

2. Then respond to each list by suggesting reading materials, books, websites, agencies that have essential literature. For once (and only this once!) don't worry if you have not got to hand Harvard referencing. Just suggest something to start the search.

3. I (may) be able to send you materials I have collected if you do this.

Role of pastoral care in Student attainment

This study needs to look at the histrory and development of "pastoral care" moving from welfare, through behaviour control, to personal development and on to "learning"

Ron Best, Watkins, and what used to be called NAPSCE should help.

co-headship

MMM- This is a specialised field of leadership literature. The authors in education inlcude Leithwood, John West burnham, Fullan, and many others. Then there are key authors from business- John adair, Handy, Bennis, Blake and Mouton etc

http://www.sos.net/~donclark/leader/leadcon.html

The key things are:
1. Identify what the new idea of Co-leadrhsip supposed to bring as advnantages (and see if they are likeley or really happen in practice. ie what are the syccess criteria of coleadership above leadership?
2.Compare the key concpets of leadership with the likelihood that this happens under cohreadship
3. Your field research needs some thinking through carfully.
4. Be careful of accepting this recent "fad" as being evidenced based and treat as a possible way forward that your research might help establsih or reject. (It may "work" for reasons that are not due to leadership.
